My Approach

I embrace and welcome folks of all racial identity, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, and sexual preferences.

I am Systemically trained, meaning I look at all parts of your life to identify and better understand the sources of your struggles and reoccurring patterns. We will bring awareness to your thoughts, behavior, core beliefs, family dynamics and create intentional action towards a new future.

Individual Therapy

Who it’s for

  • Assertiveness
  • Dating & Relationships
  • Low self-esteem & shame
  • Family conflict / Cross-cultural challenges
  • Life transitions (graduating, moving, new baby, career, or any major change)
  • Sexual issues

How it works

In a non-judgmental space we will explore who you are, how your past experiences have shaped you, and what is going on in your present life.

Together we will identify problematic behaviors, set goals, and pinpoint tools to help you develop healthy coping skills.

Through our work, you will begin to make the necessary and effective changes to become the person you’ve dreamed of being.

Couples Therapy

Who it’s for

Couples therapy is most often sought out to work on a particular issue or to simply strengthen the connection between partners. Some common topics addressed are:

  • Communication & Conflict Resolution
  • Difference in personality or lifestyle
  • Mismatched sex drive
  • Anxiety & Stress management
  • Loss of Intimacy & Connection
  • Life transitions (new baby, move, career)
  • External family conflict

How it works

Together we will explore the intricacies of your relationship. We begin with a couples intake session followed by individual sessions used to gather background information and learn about each of you as partners and individuals.

In subsequent couples sessions we will look at behavior patterns, communication style, and I will support you as you make effective changes to grow closer to one another while maintaining your personal identity.

Sex Therapy

Who it’s for

Sex therapy can be helpful for individuals or couples looking to explore their sexuality, relational patterns, difficulties with intimacy, gender roles and expectations, or simply find better ways to connect emotionally and sexually. Some common topics discussed are:

  • Mismatched sex drive
  • Low sexual desire
  • Pain during sex
  • Fear of intimacy
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Performance anxiety
  • Pre-mature or Delayed ejaculation
  • Trauma or abuse (sexual, emotional, verbal, physical)
  • Shame or guilt

How it works

There are many misconceptions about sex therapy, but there is no nudity, physical exams, or touching between therapist and client(s).

I use a holistic approach to help each client reconnect with their body, communicate their needs, and allow themselves to experience pleasure. Discussing sex and sexuality can evoke feelings of shame or embarrassment for some.

In order to create a safe and shame-free space we work to establish stable communication prior to exploring these areas.

    How Our Online Therapy Works

Before you sign up for online therapy, you should be aware of how this type of therapy works. You should ideally have a stable internet connection so you can concentrate on your session.

During your first session, we will see you and your partner together. This is so that you can talk freely about any of the issues that are affecting you. When you have a joint therapy session, Kira can see how well you work together and where the issues are. This helps her to get a sense of the difficulties that you are having.

Following the first session, Kira will ask to see you both individually. These individual sessions allow you to explore the relationship and how it impacts you. Kira will help you to talk openly and honestly about any difficulties that you might be having. These individual sessions will also ensure Kira gets to know you as an individual rather than someone who is part of a couple. These individual sessions will also focus on your family dynamics and upbringing.
